A few days ago, the international launch of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe took place in Italy, and quite a large number of automotive journalists from around the world were invited to get a more hands-on approach with the gorgeous model.
Among them were also the Brits from Auto Express, who also managed to create a video review of the S 63 AMG Coupe during their time with the models, and the result can be watched below.
Despite the fact that they only filmed the AMG variant, the review doesn't necessarily seem to concentrate on that model, but the entire engine range of the S-Class Coupe, making for general and not very explicit conclusions about the car.
That, plus the fact that the reviewer doesn't seem to have any idea how to pronounce Swarovski left us with not a very good after taste, but the footage should be fun to watch nonetheless, even if it's not all that informative.
As some of you know, the S 63 AMG Coupe is the direct successor for the CL 63 AMG, which doesn't seem to stand a chance in comparison with the new model both in terms of technology and performance.
We say this because, when fitted with 4Matic all-wheel drive (not in right-hand drive countries), the all-new S 63 AMG Coupe can catapult its two-ton mass from naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.9 seconds.
Partly responsible for those seemingly-unbelievable numbers is the fire-breathing dragon under that sculpted hood.
Internally codenamed M157, this evolution of the twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter AMG V8 outputs not less than 585 hp and 900 Nm (664 lb ft) of torque, while the valve-controlled exhaust system can make the interior sound either like a church mouse or provide the passengers with a cacophonous exhaust sound experience.
Unfortunately, the review below doesn't show much from the true qualities and/or disadvantages of the model, but we're sure that a more thorough individual test drive is probably on the way as the car reaches dealerships in September.
