"Strong essences come in small vials" applies to all walks of life, including when it comes to off-roading with a towable, where compact dimensions mean more convenience and higher maneuverability. The Carbon Pursuit aims to show that compactness doesn't mean the absence of creature comforts.
Teardrop trailers are ideal for shorter getaways where convenience is a priority, but they also work for extended adventures on which the adventurers don't mind roughing it a bit. The fact that teardrops are able to strike a perfect balance between a compact form factor, a light weight, and the most basic features of a shelter, no matter where you decide to set up camp, explains how these towables have been able to hold on to their popularity over many decades.

In Australia, it's not just the spiders or the snakes that are bigger, badder, and overall more imposing than what you'll find anywhere else in the world. Their towables are also all these things, and for good reason, since they must protect you from all those snakes, spiders, and other critters that might be making a move on you when you're not looking.

BRS Offroading is an Australian builder whose name really says it all: they make off-roading towables but with a unique spin to them in their Swiss army knife-like functionality. The Sherpa is their most compact unit and the Pursuit, which was awarded Camper Trailer of the Year in 2018 shortly after its introduction, is the flagship model.

Last summer, the Pursuit model was split in two, the standard Pursuit and the Carbon Pursuit, the latter of which we're looking at today. It's a blacked-out version of its predecessor, made to travel more stealthily and making for a much more impressive sight. The interior has also been upgraded to match the blacked-out exterior, but other than that, there are no significant modifications that we can tell.

That's not to say that the Carbon Pursuit isn't worthy of attention. It's the beefcake equivalent of a standard teardrop trailer, riding higher and with a much more muscular body that hides very well its surprising versatility. The "Carbon" upgrade may be more or less a cosmetic upgrade, but the Pursuit is perhaps the most versatile teardrop you're likely to see.

Inside the compact and uniquely styled composite body, the Carbon Pursuit hides a rolling bedroom for three people, with an interior kitchen and a small lounge that can be anything you want it to be, from a dining space to a proper lounge or a workstation.

And that's only the proverbial cherry on the (beef)cake: the Carbon Pursuit packs another, just as impressive kitchen outside and an above-ground bathroom that deploys only when you need it. Optionally, you can spec it to be off-grid or, inversely, remove features you think you won't need to save cash.

Measuring 19.7 feet (6 meters) in length, the Carbon Pursuit is 9.2 feet (2.8 meters) high at its uppermost point in the hard roof. The single-piece insulated composite shell sits on an aluminum substructure, which, in turn, sits on a galvanized steel chassis with a 2,600-kg (5,732-lb) Cruisemaster XT airbag suspension and 17-inch wheels clad in all-terrain tires. Empty weight is 1,600 kg (3,527 lbs) before options, with a maximum payload of 2,500 kg (5,511 lbs).

Despite the compact exterior, the Carbon Pursuit lives as large as the Pursuit in camp mode. The interior features a queen-size mattress with room to spare at the foot of the bed, where BRS Offroading placed the lounge, made up of two comfy seats, the galley, and an entertainment center. On rare occasions when a third party might join the party (heh), the two seats can be joined to form a single-person bed.

To make up for the compact footprint, the Carbon Pursuit has a large skylight right above the bed and two opening windows on each side. Fans are located above each window to circulate the air and avoid stuffiness.

There's a large access door on one side, which flips up to offer protection from the elements even without an awning, and a smaller one on the opposite side. The latter isn't for access but instead accommodates the bathroom: you simply flip open the door to create the roof, slide out another section for the floor, flip up a third segment, and then unfold and attach the privacy curtain in place, et voila!, an above-ground shower room/bathroom.

Both kitchens onboard the Carbon Pursuit are well equipped, including three separate fridge drawers, stove, microwave, a sink, and BBQ grill. There's also plenty of storage and just enough worktop surface to make ample use of those cooking options.

Standard features include the TV set above the galley, a Garmin command center, 380W of solar panels, AC and heat, and all the appliances in the kitchens. Some of these can be upgraded, but strangely enough, there's no mention of the capacity of the onboard water tank.

The Carbon Pursuit is available in Australia for a starter price of AUD136,990 (US$91,500). According to one media outlet, the older Pursuit model is the only one available in the U.S., starting at US$110,000, but there's a chance BRS Offroading will bring its younger and more beefcake counterpart here as well.
