Everybody agrees that Mercedes-Benz has hit a homerun with the new C-Class Coupe. At least as far as its looks go, the car is so close to being perfect, it's almost frightening. And the secret lies with the fact that it's true to both its heritage and the original idea of a coupe.
Most so-called coupes these days are just cars with two doors, really. They don't have the same obvious links with the past, the same curvy lines, they don't give the impression you're not looking at a sedan with two doors chopped off - but not the 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe. The Stuttgart brand's car was built to be a coupe from the beginning, and it kind of shows.
This less practical version of the C-Class was launched last summer, just one week before it was joined by the Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe as well. The performance version is the one that gives this car its actual meaning, fully exploiting the potential presented by its shape and design. However, not everybody who wants a coupe can afford to pay for the AMG version, so the regular ones deserve just as much credit and attention.
Mercedes-Benz USA has come up (well, it has given its OK for the clip to the advertising agency, to be more exact) with a new commercial spot for the C-Class Coupe, which looks just as fresh now, close to one year after its reveal, then it did back when the wraps were first taken off. It understandingly focuses on the car's design, highlighting the fact that it's been completely redesigned.
From then, though, it becomes a case of cliche idioms ("it doesn't just raise the bar, it completely crushes it") and a stunt that luckily is accompanied by a "don't try this at home" disclaimer. Because, otherwise, if you're the type who takes things literally, you might think your spanking-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe can break through solid steel beams without even a scratch. Which, just in case it wasn't clear enough, it can't.
