Just a couple of hours ago, MINI and United Visual Artists took the veils off their Salone del Mobile 2014 creation, Parallels. Now, MINI published a video on Youtube showing us exactly how it all came together.
From the general idea to the way the entire concept came to life and what inspired the creators to go about it in this exact way, the artists explain how Parallels came to life.
In the earlier press release, MINI claimed that the installment represents the “seamless transition between home, office and car – interpreting this connectivity as a palpable art form and invoking the most striking element of the new MINI interface design: light - as illustrated by MINI’s interactive LED ring.”
Going even further, their creation features three 1.5-meter rings that change color exactly like the center mounted dash display on the new MINI models thanks to LED lights. Furthermore, using motion sensors, the colors change when a visitor approaches, depending on his movements.
Sound was also incorporated in the overall design and it would’ve been extremely hard for us to imagine exactly how the two were being mixed together without the video MINI decided to share on Youtube. Honestly, it makes a bolder statement than 10 press release pages even though it’s only 2 minutes long. If you’re as confused as we were, it’s worth your time.
