Just like The Little Pardalote, which was built by the same builder, The Little Wren is inspired by the lovely birds that make different areas around Tasmania even more amazing. This part of the world is a beautiful place for tiny living, although it comes with its share of challenges. This classic-style tiny house is a compact haven with the amenities of a modern home and also a fine example of craftsmanship and style that will pass the test of time.
Artisan Tiny Homes is a family-owned business with a deep love for unique creations that are meant to feel like home right away. Every customer is closely involved in the overall process so that the final result is a perfect match to their personal style and specific needs. The future owners of The Little Wren wanted blue accents throughout their home and enough room to move.

Starting from this, The Little Wren was built as a compact home for two, with a length of just eight meters (26.2 feet). Its airy and bright interior revealed one loft bedroom, a super cozy lounge, a fully-equipped bathroom, and a contemporary-style kitchen with a breakfast bar and a bistro window.

Custom tiny homes can often be too colorful or quirky compared to the typical Airbnb homes on wheels, and that's the point. The Little Wren, however, displays a much more mellow personality. It flaunts the understated, timeless elegance of a classic guest home. In other words, it could easily be operated as an Airbnb without requiring any modifications in terms of style.

The all-white walls and ceiling have a well-known effect of visually expanding the space. The white is beautifully complemented by the natural-toned woodwork and vivid blue accents. The pops of color are not overwhelming but just enough to add dimension and depth. The overall décor was also kept to a minimum so that the clean aesthetics of the home shine through. As a result, the interior feels calming and inviting, with the nostalgic coziness of a traditional cabin.

A breakfast bar was carefully added to provide a comfy little dining nook while also expanding the cooking surface. Whenever the owners prefer to enjoy al-fresco meals, the modern bistro window turns this into an indoor/outdoor space. This beautiful bistro window meant there was no space left for overhead cupboards, but that wasn't a problem. The sturdy staircase with custom-built cabinets provides just enough storage.

There's a dedicated nook for a coffee station and a separate area for the fridge. A spacious wardrobe was also incorporated here since there wasn't enough room for it in the loft. Another nook was specifically designed for the washing machine. Behind the sliding wooden door (an actual barn door provided by the owners), the bathroom hides an elegant shower cabin, a standard toilet, and a rustic-style vanity with extra storage. This lovely vanity was custom-made. It looks beautiful with the white shiplap walls and golden fixtures.

The Little Wren's lounge reminds us of old, rustic cabins. Instead of a fancy sofa, the built-in bench (another custom-made feature) helps create a delightful, cozy nook. It comes with hidden storage and lovely custom-made covers and cushions that add a pop of color. A huge window seems to invite the outdoors in. Plus, the loft bedroom was specifically configured with an unobstructed view of this window.

This is essential for creating a sense of openness and connection to the natural surroundings in a small space like this one. Instead of closing it off, the loft bedroom was opened up even more thanks to this large picture window downstairs. Last but not least, the rustic-style fireplace is a functional piece with a double decorative role, which goes perfectly with this tiny, cozy lounge.

In keeping with the concept of keeping things open and airy, the staircase did not have a bulky handrail. A basic metal handrail and a bedroom barrier were enough to ensure safety and facilitate access without taking up precious space. Large horizontal windows, in addition to their basic cross-ventilation function, were another key element for adding luminosity to this loft bedroom.

The bedroom design was as simple as possible, with zero clutter. The queen-sized bed dominates the room, with no built-in furniture blocking the overall flow. Thanks to the carefully thought-out design, this bedroom comes with a lovely view that makes it even more inviting.

On the outside, the combination of traditional Cypress cladding and modern tin gives The Little Wren a contemporary look. Its discrete blue accents are revealed only on the inside.

Pricing is different for each home since they are all custom-made. As a general rule, an eight-meter Artisan Tiny Homes model starts at AUD 149,000 ($99,600). The most compact and, therefore, the most affordable tiny homes they build are six meters long, while the biggest go up to nine meters, in accordance with local transport regulations. This makes The Little Wren a lovely medium-sized tiny house, ideally suited and fully equipped for two.
