This is latest superyacht concept by Roberto Curto. This design studio has created over 50 yachts since 2004 and is still going strong.
I’ve noticed that when people see this creation for the first time they have one of three reactions; amazement, laughter, or, “What the heck is that thing?”
It’s the Hypnosquid, folks. Designed by Roberto Curto design studio with the natural shapes of the Mediterranean cuttlefish, she hasn’t been built yet but is up for sale. She brings Italian design and innovation into harmony to create a free-flowing yet luxurious and elegant yacht.
Featuring a 207-foot (63.2 m) all-aluminum hull that allowed for such shapes and lines to be easily formed, she makes for a very spacious and modern interior. At the bow of the vessel we can see the curved edges and shapes that offer the cuttlefish look. Here you won’t find many options except the exterior lounging areas and forward facing sun-deck.
Toward the center of the ship is where we can really see the cuttlefish taking shape. The curved aluminum shapes continue here as well and are now accented with black and green glass.
The black glass allows for the luxurious look and offers a panoramic view of the bay you’re anchored in with total privacy. It also serves to balance the high use of aluminum, and with the use of green to further accent the cuttlefish look.
On the main deck is the owner’s suite featuring a two-deck vertical spread. The upper part houses the suite and private bath, while stairs lead you down to a private lounge and library.
Being separated from the guest cabins, the owner has the benefit of a garden and lobby illuminated by natural overhead lighting. The lower deck houses the guest staterooms, which are all furnished in Italian style.
The Italian design gives us wide-open spaces to lounge and feel free in. Accented by an ingenious use of glass and mirrors to offer a visual blend into its surroundings. This use of mirrors and glass also has an enlarging effect upon the visual space you see. Large interior lounging areas and a bar offer you the relaxation you seek and even a games room for some Poker, Blackjack or Pai gow. Here, more mirror and glass use offer privacy to those heated games.
The main deck houses a formal dining area that can accommodate 12 guests and allows for a view of the kitchen to see other masters of their trade at work.
The upper deck will be put to use with onboard massage facilities, a gym, open-air solarium and even a movie theater. Accompanying these facilities will also be a large pool with forward facing sunbeds to help you get that coco-skin you’re looking for. In case you need to cool off or want to grab the old jetski, the Squid allows for water-level acces from the aft deck.
The engines that power this ‘sucker’ are four Rolls Royce 16V 200 M96L, allowing for a top speed of 30 knots and average cruising rate of 20 knots offer a range of 3000 nautical miles.
As always, however, because she is a concept, you won’t find a final price on it. Yachts like these allow for the customer to offer their two-cents upon the facilities, and even some materials used during construction. And this will always affect your price.
