The Expandable, Off-Grid GoSun Camp365 Camper Is a Rare Gem

This unicorn RV is the GoSun Camp365, a collaborative effort between GoSun and Camp365 introduced in the summer of 2022. One such example of a unicorn has recently been listed for sale out of New Jersey. If unicorn ownership is something you've been considering, you're welcome.

The GoSunCamp365 is described as a one-of-a-kind towable that brings many incredible features in a single package designed for ease of use, comfort, and self-sufficiency. This combination makes it ideal both for seasoned campers and weekend warriors, but it also gives the towable characteristics like garageability, customization, and durability.

The towable is based on Camp365's camper of the same name, which first emerged as a prototype in 2018. A mix of pop-up trailer, travel trailer, and teardrop trailer, it was (and is) a triangle-shaped towable made with a solid aluminum frame that expands at camp and becomes a habitat that can sleep as many as six people at a squeeze.

The Camp365 is described as "Grandma-certified," which is to say Grandma herself could convert it from travel to camp mode in as short a time as 10 to 12 minutes without extra tools. And that's not even the most impressive part about the towable. That would be the versatility of the interior space, which comes with inflatable beds, in-floor storage, a cassette toilet, an exterior shower with a pop-up privacy stall, and on-road compact dimensions.

In travel mode, the Camp365 is just 4 feet (122 cm) wide and 15.5 feet (472.5 cm) long, with a height of 6.7 feet (204 cm). At camp, it expands to 11.7 feet (365.6 cm) in width and 8.5 feet (259 cm) in height, creating a space of 100 square feet (9.3 square meters) that can be anything from a family RV to a guest room, a personal yoga retreat, or an office wherever you want to place it.

The camper sits on a proprietary axle that can expand between 48 and 72 inches (122 and 183 cm), which makes it ideal for anything from highway to trail use. Empty weight is just 1,495 pounds (678 kg), allowing the maker to advertise it as suitable for towing even with an ATV.

No wonder then that the towable presented itself as the perfect base for a collab with GoSun, a leader on the market of solar-powered camping gear. The GoSun Camp365 is exactly what the name says: it's a Camp365 camper packed with GoSun gear, so it's essentially an off-grid, self-sufficient solution for extended getaways in the middle of nature, with the bonus of ultra-low weight and compactness until you get to wherever you want to be.

Think of a basic shelter that still offers the basic features and extended off-grid autonomy, in a lightweight package you can tow with the daily driver, and you get the definition of the GoSun Camp365.

The standard features from the OG Camp365 were still included, but GoSun added a couple of 100-W solar panels on the roof, its 120-W swing-out Solar Table, and a 1,100-Wh power bank. The utility room of the trailer was packed with a Chillest fridge-freezer, a 580W fast ceramic heater, and an 8,000 BTU air conditioner that could only run on shore power.

A 24-gallon (91-liter) tank held water for the exterior hot shower and collapsible sink in the makeshift galley. The interior featured outlets and USB ports, LED lights, and a combination of mesh and tinted glass openings that offered privacy and a much-needed cross-breeze. Extendable awnings on either side added even more living space.

To expand the camper, the aluminum frame holds sections of marine-grade Aqualon instead of canvas, guaranteed to withstand extreme temperatures, extended sun exposure, and the elements without damage. Two layers of Aqualon and air insulation render the Camp365 suitable for year-round camping.

Upon its introduction, early bird pricing for the GoSun Camp365 started at $32,500. The 2022 unit offered for sale now is asking $18,000, or $15,000 just for the Camp365 camper, stripped of all GoSun gear. The seller says the unit is as new, having only been used once in May 2023 after delivery in November of the previous year.

The official page of this transformable towable says that they're still offering Custom Edition models, which sounds like production remains limited. Regardless of the number of units that did go out, the GoSun Camper365 has solid reviews so far, so this sounds like a pretty solid deal on a limited-edition unicorn RV.
