It's not every day that we encounter a superyacht that causes us to stop for a moment and question our career path. Even rarer is the fact that said vessel is from an American yacht builder. This is the Burger 180's story.
Let's face it: the United States isn't necessarily known for its luxury naval architecture; we're known more for our naval firepower. However, there are a few teams that the American billionaire can call upon, and one of those crews is none other than Burger Boat.

If you've never heard of Burger, all you really need to know is that this name has been a part of the American boating and yachting scene since 1863, but it wasn't until a couple of years later that the brand launched its first ships, and the rest, as they say, is history.

But it wasn't all smooth sailing. The initial shipyard was bought out by Manitowoc Dry Dock Company in 1902, but the family tradition continued just across the river by a nephew, Henry B. Burger Jr. Oh, and during the World Wars, Burger played a role in creating wooden mine sweepers, crash boats, rescue boats, and countless others. After the war, Burger's focus became nothing more than "pleasure" boats and yachts.

Well, as the years went by and clients threw more and more money at this crew, their designs became wilder and grander than the ones before, and the Burger 180 is the absolute largest machine in their repertoire.

Oh, and don't look at this thing like a concept; according to the builder's website, this one's already under construction, and with two total 180s currently underway, one of which commemorates this team's 160th year in the industry.

Now, our journey into this ship begins with a morning boat ride out of some renowned port, and as you head further and further out to sea, you get closer and closer to the 180, gleaming in the morning daylight with its pearlescent exterior.

Towering above sea level, four decks create a space that's "Designed with entertainment, technological advances, reliability, and worldwide cruising with family and friends in mind..." If I may, this means that every corner of this vessel has a purpose, and this is clearly the case.

Starting with the rear of the ship, guests will climb aboard via a large "passerelle," and once boarded, it's open game on this thing! From here, we take our first few steps onto the main deck, where we find access to a massive lounge, but first, there's a rear-facing jacuzzi to keep you stimulated. Since the superstructure above extends over this space, it's the perfect place to set up an outdoor dining lounge, possibly even a dance floor.

Oh, and do note the lack of any interior images or design. That's because the interiors of vessels like these are typically left to the discretion of any future owners, and by the looks of things, this aspect hasn't yet been defined, meaning that these babies don't have owners yet. Sure, an idea of what may go where has been created, but how it'll all eventually look, we'll just have to be patient and catch the launch.

The rest of this deck is designated for a massive lounge and dining hall inside, access to subsequent decks, a VIP lounge, and, if I'm not mistaken, the master suite toward the front. The very bow of the ship is reserved for a toy garage.

One deck up, the 180s begin to showcase all the outdoor magic Burger integrated into the design. Along the sides of this deck, guests can enjoy views and free passage all around via beautiful verandas that seem to float above the sea, while at the front, multiple lounge beds invite the whole family to front-row seats for wherever it is you're traveling. Be sure to escape to the interior to cool off if things get too hot.

As for the highest deck on the ship, the sun deck, again, Burger places expansive areas at our disposal appointed with outdoor dining tables, sun beds, and a bar. A beam-to-beam forward lounge is also spotted in the schematics.

Last but not least, the lowest deck aboard the 180 is reserved for nothing other than the crew and guest quarters—at least, the forward half of the ship is. The rear is home to two massive Caterpillar engines, and aft, yet another toy garage is in the works, this time big enough for one or two tenders.

Now, I understand that most of us will probably never set foot aboard this floating haven, but when the time comes, it may just be worth it to catch the launch. After all, it's not every day that a US-based builder launches a superyacht. Heck, even Jeff Bezos outsourced for his own superyacht, you know, the one they tore a bridge down for, so yes, a Burger 180 being launched is a notable event. Sadly, we don't know when that might be.
