The 2025 Lamborghini Urus SE Traveled Across Three Continents From China to Côte d'Azur

The regional debuts of the first plug-in hybrid version of the Urus super-SUV were sprinkled by the Italian manufacturer Lamborghini with exclusive events and international spectators. In total, over 4,000 people witnessed electrified history in the making.
Customers and members of the international media took part in a series of no less than 12 exclusive events on three different continents to mark the introduction of the Urus SE, Lamborghini's follow-up to the original Urus from 2018 as well as the mildly enhanced Urus Performante, Urus S, Urus ST-X, or the Urus Pearl Capsule.

Introduced in concept form at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show and also shown that year at Pebble Beach in America, the spiritual successor to Lamborghini's off-road-oriented LM002 and Lambo's second SUV was originally envisioned with the 5.2-litre V10 engine shared with the Gallardo packing up to 592 horsepower. However, things were vastly different in late 2017, when the production version was introduced at Lamborghini's Sant'Agata Bolognese home.

The all-new, first-ever Lamborghini Urus was the first member of the 'super-SUV' breed, and although it was related to the Audi Q7 and Q8, Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne, and Volkswagen Touareg, it was completely different from any of them – at least in terms of looks. Aside from the major changes of the exterior styling, the Lambo Urus also got treated to the 4.0-liter FSI twin-turbo V8 and an eight-speed automatic transmission instead of the mighty naturally-aspirated V10, now packing no less than 641 horsepower and 850 Nm or 627 lb-ft of torque.

The Lamborghini Urus, along with the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, quickly became the darling of the ultra-luxury super-SUV category, and the Italian automaker first modified it in 2022, four years later, with the introduction of the Performante model packing 657 horsepower and improved aerodynamics. Soon, the official facelift was dubbed Urus S, and the 'Rambo Lambo' was all set for additional worldwide sales records.

However, the times are changing fast now, and Lamborghini has embraced electrification – first with the Sian FKP 37, then with the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4, and now with the all-new Revuelto, its first plug-in hybrid supercar. No worries, earlier in April this year, the company also electrified the Urus, and its new SE version debuted in front of the worldwide audience on April 24 in China. The world tour originated from there at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, then moved to Shanghai, passing by the Royal Palace in Bangkok, then on to the vibrantly eclectic Tokyo, and in June, it arrived in Malaysia to visit the capital of Kuala Lumpur.

The Americas were quick to receive their own one-on-one moments with the Urus SE because the United States – Lamborghini's most important market worldwide – welcomed the PHEV super-SUV in New York on April 29 in the heart of the Chelsea Arts District before moving to Toronto, Canada. Europe was the third continent visited, of course, and the Old Continent debut was staged at the Motor Valley Fest in Italy – right in the heart of the district that houses Automobili Lamborghini's headquarters.

The Lambo Urus SE then traveled extensively – to the United Kingdom, to the Middle East for a respite at the One & Only One Za'abeel resort in Dubai, UAE, then to Germany (Kesselhaus, the former power station of the former cotton mill in Kolbermoor, near Munich), and finally the tour ended in France, between Paris and the Côte d'Azur.
