There's no doubt that the Cessna Citation heritage is unrivaled when it comes to luxury jets. One of Textron's loyal customers decided to expand its fleet with three Cessna Citation models, including the fresh Ascend, still under development. The purchase agreement will go down in history as one of the greatest in the private aviation sector.
This year is far from over, yet Textron's most recent victory will be hard to match. The aviation giant secured an order for up to 1,500 business jets, all Cessna. First of all, it's a record-breaking deal for both the manufacturer and the customer, NetJets.

NetJets is a long-time partner of Textron, yet this new purchase agreement takes their collaboration to a new level. This incredible number of jets is nearly double compared to all of the Cessna jets delivered to this operator so far. NetJets had acquired and operated a little over 800 Textron aircraft throughout 40 years of partnership. Now, it's expanding its fleet with a whopping 1,500 Cessna jets, which will be delivered over the next 15 years.

Towards the end of last year, Textron secured an important order for the new Cessna Citation XLS Gen2 as well. Still, with a total of 20 units, it doesn't compare to this recent fleet order.

Another significant aspect is that the order includes the future Cessna Citation Ascend, which is scheduled to enter service two years from now. This makes NetJets the official fleet launch customer for Textron's latest addition to the Cessna family. For now, the manufacturer hasn't specified how many of the 1,500 aircraft are Citation Ascend, but their delivery won’t start earlier than 2025.

The Citation Ascend model was introduced only a few months ago. It was described as an innovative addition to the mid-size business jet segment. Its most prominent feature is the cockpit, presented as being entirely new. In terms of comfort, the new jet will keep some of the most popular qualities of the Citation Latitude and the Citation Longitude, such as ample legroom and increased flexibility.

The famous flat floor found on previous models is now paired with windows that are 15% larger and wireless control for each passenger.

The NetJets-operated Ascend will boast a seven-passenger configuration, enriched with a modern full refreshment center and a generous baggage compartment.

Performance-wise, Ascend claims to also raise the bar, primarily due to its Pratt & Whitney Canada PW545D engines that combine increased thrust with better fuel efficiency.

Ascent is the only Citation model still in development. The M2 Gen2, CJ3+, CJ4 Gen2, XLS Gen2, Latitude, and Longitude are all in production. The Citation XLS Gen2 was the latest one to obtain the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) in early 2022.
