The Tesla Cybertruck has just become the best-selling pickup truck in America for the first time. It is a title that Ford seemed to have reserved for its F-150 Lightning, so they are definitely not going to like it.
The Ford F-Series has been in the lead for ages, no matter the segment. The lineup has been in the lead since 1977 in its own segment. Since 1981, it has been the best-selling vehicle in America.

The F-150 Lightning crowned itself the most popular electric truck in America since the moment it hit the market. Now, Ford will have to settle for the second spot in the ranking. The Tesla Cybertruck shot straight to number one.

Tesla reported delivering approximately 443,956 vehicles in the second quarter of 2024. Most of them were Model Y and Model 3 examples. The Y was last year's best-selling car worldwide. There were also 21,551 other Tesla models sold, with the number including the Model X, Model S, Semi, and Cybertruck.

There is no information about how many Cybertrucks reached their new owners in Q2, but there are several official accounts on X suggesting that the Cybertruck is America's new best-selling electric pickup truck.

Telsa's lead engineer, Wes Morrill, retweeted a post from Sawyer Merritt, confirming the information: "Let's go! Best-selling electric pickup is also made in America. And very likely, the most American-made pickup, too," he says.

Tesla's official Cybertruck X account brags about the amazing performance of the truck. The automaker started delivering the Cybertruck on November 30, 2024. It has never released any information about the number of Cybertrucks delivered. But a recall issued in April, which sent all vehicles to the service to have their faulty accelerator pedal fixed showed that there were 3,878 examples delivered at the time.

Ford sold 7,902 F-150 Lightning electric pickup trucks, which translates to an increase of 77% compared to the numbers of the same period in 2023. The Blue Oval is America's best-selling EV brand, following in Tesla's footsteps, with a growth of 61 percent in the second quarter of 2024. The year also brought a 56 percent increase in hybrid vehicle sales.

Rivian finished the second quarter of 2024 in the third position in the ranking of electric car manufacturers, selling 13,790 vehicles. However, the automaker does not provide the numbers by model, so we can't tell where the R1T pickup truck is standing.

Meanwhile, Chevrolet moved 2,196 Silverado EVs. When it comes to ICE-powered trucks, the Ford F-150 is still number one, followed by Chevrolet's Silverado.
