Jaguar Heritage Racing announced it will field a handful of the British marque's most celebrated models in the 2014 Mille Miglia classic car endurance rally. The lineup includes XKs, C-Types and one D-Type, which will be driven by world-renowned motorsport, music, fashion and TV personalities.
Legendary American TV chat show host Jay Leno, which also happens to be an enthusiastic Jaguar collector with over 100 old-timers in his personal garage, will be driving the ex-Sir James Scott-Douglas '51 Jaguar XK120 roadster. The historic vehicle was raced in the past by the Ecurie Ecosse team.
The LXF 731 registered 1951 XK120 roadster formerly raced by the legendary Duncan Hamilton will be shared by husband and wife team Elliot and Erin Gleave. Elliot is best known for his work with British music act Example, while Erin is currently modeling for brands such as Antz Pantz and Mambo.
Multiple award-winning British actor Jeremy Irons will be behind the wheel of the ex-Jim Swift XK120 roadster, while Scottish singer and songwriter Amy Macdonald will take the wheel of a Jaguar XK140 once owned by British racing driver David Hobbs. Mike Cross, which is Jaguar's Vehicle Integrity chief engineer, will drive the well-known ex-Stirling Moss Monthlery record-breaking XK120 coupe, while author David Blakeley and our favorite girl racer Jodie Kidd will share a XK120 as well.
One of three priceless C-Type race cars will be driven by Belgian singer-songwriter Milow, AC/DC lead singer and car aficionado Brian Johnson and Jaguar Land Rover regional director for Europe Bernard Kuhnt. Ex-Jaguar Le Mans 24 Hours race winner Andy Wallace will share the wheel of the C-Type that won the 1952 Reims Grand Prix with the one and only Sir Stirling Moss.
Sky F1's TV pundit Martin Brundle, winner of the World Sports Prototype Championship and ex-Formula 1 driver, and Bruna Senna will be sharing the beautiful 'Long Nose' D-Type Jag bearing the 393 RW license plate.
A squadron of all-new F-Type Coupes will support the Jaguar Heritage Racing team, following the full Mille Miglia route through Italy with broadcast crews and VIP guests. The drivers making up the Jaguar Heritage Racing team will be tweeting live throughout the 1,000-mile event, which will take place between May 15-18, 2014.
