Now get this: America's "Big Three" automobile companies, General Motors, Ford and Chrysler, are no longer "alone" in Detroit. Indian manufacturer Tata Motors has squeezed in with a new engineering center.
Before giving you a few minutes to ponder upon the possibility of buying Detroit-developed Tatas (*cough*), we want to introduce you to the latest concept the Indians have revealed to mark their new engineering center: the eMO-C.
Tata's new creation is an electric van that could "meet all current major regulatory and non regulatory standards, including current North American safety regulations". Based on the eMO concept unveiled in January, the e-MO-C has three different battery modules for a range of 50 miles (80 km), 100 miles (160 km) and 150 miles (240 km).
The van's not supposed to enter production and Tata says it will remain an "engineering study". However, the Indian company has released estimated pricing between $15,750 and $23,750, adding that "there is a definite potential for the eMO-C in North America". Too bad we'll never find out...
