Steve Saleen's Ford GT Prototype Up For Auction

The Ford GT is a special supercar, with the vehicle offering an interesting mix of performance and motorsport heritage that makes it an interesting choice for automotive enthusiasts from around the world. The vehicles was only produced between 2004 and 2006, but in our hearts it will always be fresh.

However, some Ford GTs are (even) more special than others. This is the case of a 2005 Ford GT prototype that was owned by Steve Saleen. And there’s more about the vehicle. It was also a star in movies like Fast and Furious 4, Rocky VI and XXX: State of the Union.

If you want it, the car can be yours, as it is set to be offered at the Russo and Stelee auction that will be held on August 14, as Insideline reports.

The prototype is number five of the nine built and is the only one to feature a hand-built twin-screw supercharger that later became a standard feature of the production model.

This GT only has 3,830 miles on its odometer and, as you might’ve expected, comes with an autograph by Steve Saleen. The vehicle originally came finished in yellow with black stripes. However, you’ll find that now it uses a white exterior with blue stripes.

Behind the seats (and the firewall of course), you’ll find a supercharged V8 powerplant that delivers 550 hp. The engine works together with a six-speed manual gearbox to offer an extreme driving experience. The combination allows the vehicle to leave the 62 mph mark behind in just 3.3 seconds and offer a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h).
