The brand new Range Rover is the most important new vehicle to be launched by a major British automaker this year, and our spy photographers have once again caught up with it as it was undergoing road testing.
The pre-production prototype is wearing the least amount of camouflage ever, so we can make out the new styling direction, which is a bit Evoque-ish.
The new Range Rover will share its aluminum platform with the Jaguar XJ, Which means that it will not only be lighter (rumors indicate that it will shed around 400 kg / 882 lbs), but will also allow the designers to make the car a little bit larger. To save a little extra weight, composite materials are going to be used for stuff like the fenders and the tailgate.
Powertrains are largely expected to be carried over from the current model, including the 5.0-liter V8s (aspirated and supercharged). However, it’s not farfetched to believe that the supercharged V6 developed for the Jaguar F-Type might also be used.
