With engineers rushing to block his view, our spy photographer managed to take the most compelling photos of the next generation Porsche 911 Targa in Germany, seen here in two distinct flavors. Despite the duct take covering its badges, we can easily tell there's a "Carrera 4" badge on one of the prototypes, the other being a Carrera 4S.
The fact that both have reflective strips connecting their taillights tells us that, just like on the 997 version, Targa models will come with all-wheel drive. And just like their coupe brothers, this would mean 350 hp for the base model and 400 hp for the S, delivered through 7-speed manual or PDK gearboxes.
These latest spyshots offer the most complete view of the new Targa top, a tribute to the original design people normally associate with this style of open-top motor. For a better view of what's hiding under the little camo left on the car, check out the latest patent images that have leaked online, which have basically revealed Porsche's hand.
Expected to debut next January at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, the new Targa is shaping up to be the ideal car for those who want to be seen.
