Scheduled to be officially unveiled in the second half of the year, the Ford’s Ranger-based SUV was recently caught while being tested in cold weather conditions by our skilled photographers.
While it carries the pickup truck’s front end, the prototype was fitted with a Ford Territory-sourced rear end and a new rear suspension setup. Little is know about the new SUV, but the vehicle is likely to become available Australia, New Zealand and most European, Asian and South American markets, just like the Ranger pickup truck.
Unfortunately, the Ranger-based SUV won't make it to the United States, where the pickup truck has been phased out in 2011.
As far as powertrains are concerned, the SUV should be offered with a range of gasoline and diesel engines, with some of them borrowed from the aforementioned truck.
