The whole BMW 5 Series family is getting ready to face off agains the refreshed Mercedes E-Class, and so it needs new styling of its own. Obviously, the M5 doesn't really need any help in attracting customers, but nevertheless it's a halo model of the F10 family and must keep up with appearances.
Our spies have caught the facelifted M5 testing in Germany. The prototype was parked near the Nurburgring, while the BMW M pilots were looking at the tourists driving on the track.
The rest of the 5 Series family will get Air Curtain intakes at the front, but the M5 doesn't need that since it's already got manly looks to die for. Instead, it will receive refreshed headlights and taillights and a new grille with fewer vertical bars.
Inside, all models will introduce its new iDrive Touch system, with a touchpad drivers can write on with their finger. The car should also be 4G compatible.
The M5's biggest job is to fight off the new RS6 and E63 AMG. Both now have all-wheel drive and more power than ever, but BMW will likely not budge an inch towards an xDrive M.
