Even though everybody is now concerned about the M4, the car that will replace the iconic M3 Coupe, we simply cannot forget that the M3 will continue to live on, even though just as a Sedan.
BMW surely didn't forget about the high-performance sedan is continuously and furiously testing the F80 M3 on the Nurburgring (where else). Out latest batch of spyshots show the new, lighter car being driven by mad men on the Green Hell.
As far as performance goes, the new M3 will surely be lighter than its predecessor, considering that BMW is focusing on this matter. The extensive usage of CFRP (carbon fibre reinforced polymer) and other carbon fibre bits and pieces (like the roof) might turn this car into a lightweight.
The engine will probably be shared with the M4 and consist of an upgraded version of the N55 unit, in the same 3-liter 6-cylinder layout that will probably be developing more HP than the now retired 4-liter naturally aspirated V8 and a lot more torque too, due to turbocharging.
The M3 is rumored to be unveiled as a concept alongside the M4 at Pebble Beach in August and the official production car should be unveiled this year, as the F30 3 Series was released last year.
