When the Audi A7 came out in 2010, the event went relatively unnoticed. The auto industry was a little too busy licking its war wounds to notice another four-door coupe that seemingly had nothing going for it. But the reality was that the A7 marked a turning point at Audi, where the company started being more focused on design.
A bit like a Japanese rice painter or sculptor, Audi is focused more on the small details than the big picture. Looking at one of their headlights is like glancing towards the sun through a diamond, but the overall shape of an Audi is generally just like any silver car.
2014 marks the point where the A7 graduates and becomes more refined. Just like the Panamera, it's getting a facelift 4 years into its newborn life. And like the Porsche model, it's all in the eyes. We caught up with the Audi A7 facelift and discovered some of its secrets, ones which Audi doesn't want us to know.
New headlights have been fitted. The design is elegant and simple. Two lines of LEDs running parallel and straight as an arrow, splitting apart at the outer edge. It's quite similar to Volvo's new design. The changes to the taillights are identical: two lines splitting at the end. New bumpers, integrated trapezoidal exhaust and better wheels and paint are all part of the 2015 model year upgrades.
