If we wouldn’t know any better, we’d say that Jeep’s R&D department has moved from Toledo to the Arctic Circle. Why? Because the upcoming “Junior” crossover SUV was spotted testing in Sweden for the third time this year.
Rumored to be unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show next month, the small SUV has yet to lose any of its thick, black camouflage, so we’re still in the dark as far as design goes. However, the new set of pics that were sent to us by our spy photographers include an interior shot, which shows the vehicle’s infotainment system, dashboard chrome accents and some of the buttons and dials customers will be able to use later this year.
Details about the new Jeep are still limited, but the vehicle is likely to ride on a modified platform that underpins the Fiat 500L. Power will also be provided by Chrysler’s Italian parent company, so expect a range of Fiat engines under the hood, including a 0.9 Twin Air (105 hp), a 1.4 MultiAir (160 hp) and a 1.6 MultiJet oil burner (105 hp).
It’s still unclear what nameplate the new Jeep will be sold under, but a recent rumor claims the crossover could wear a Laredo badge. Stick around for more details.
