Sometimes We Need to Brake

"... and then, screw the rules and brake for your sake," this is how one of the riding lessons an older and more seasoned friend of mine used to teach me back in the day, while I was a greenhorn.
He was talking about those nasty situations when things go wrong and regardless of how has the right to pass, it was I who was supposed to brake and stay out of trouble. I'm sure pretty much every rider out there has met such situations and those who braked were happy to have done so.

The purpose for showing you this video is to make it clear, that in this case it was the very rider who had to brake, above all. He had plenty of time to spot the turning truck and assess the situation.

Did he have the right to pass? Of course he did. Was this of help given the fact that the truck was already in his way can could not simply disappear? No help at all! Yes, such predicaments are unnerving and frustrating and above all, dangerous, but this time it was the rider failing to slow down who catalyzed the "close call.

However, riding on just because you had the right to do so may not be a wise decision at all. Safe ride!
