Once you get your hands on a rare model that you have been dreaming of for ages, why would you drive it for less than 1,000 miles and then put it up for sale on several websites around the world? Maybe the owner of this Koenigsegg Regera has a solid reason to get rid ofthe car.
Koenigsegg built just 80 Regeras, each with a starting price of $1.9 million before options and taxes, and each sold out within less than a year after the unveiling of the production car. However, over the years, their value almost doubled.

But the one that we have right here is no ordinary Regera. It features the Ghost Package, specifically designed to increase downforce. Listed for $285,000, it integrates a redesigned front splitter and side sills, canards attached to the front fenders, and fixed winglets to the rear quarter panels.

It brings along track-focused Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, brakes with ventilated carbon-ceramic discs measuring 397 millimeters (15.6 inches) in diameter, and six-piston calipers at the front, while those at the rear sport a 380-millimeter (15.0 inches) in diameter and four-piston calipers.

Besides the sophisticated aero package, the Regera has many features to brag about. And the 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, integrated into a plug-i hybrid system, alongside three electric motors, is one of them.

Insane powertrain and 1,500 horsepower

The system pumps out a total output of 1,500 horsepower (1,521 metric horsepower) and 1,475 pound-feet of torque (2,000 Newton meters). Only the electric motors deliver more than half of that: 697 horsepower (707 metric horsepower). Those are enough for the Regera to flash from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 kph) in just 2.8 seconds, hit 124 mph (200 kph) in 6.6 seconds, 186 mph (300 kph) in 10.9 seconds, and 249 mph (400 kph) in 20 seconds.

The hypercar comes with an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 0.94 horsepower per kilogram. And that's far from over. The car kept breaking record after record. On September 19, 2019, it accelerated from 0 to 249 mph (0 to 400 kph) in 31.49 seconds, which was the all-time quickest for a production car. That was a 1.8-second improvement over the previous record, held by another Koenigsegg, the Agera RS.

Almost four years later, in June 2023, the Regera broke its own record with a blistering run of 28.81 seconds, just one month after the Rimac Nevera had crowned itself the king of acceleration. Its reign did not last long.

All those numbers make perfect sense because the Swedish carmaker planted ingenious innovations in the Regera. The incredibly rigid carbon-fiber monocoque with a removable roof and the Dihedral synchro-helix doors are on the list of cutting-edge features.

Several dealers around the world are trying to sell this car

A dealership in Canada is trying to sell the vehicle in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, through a relatively new local dealer, SBX Cars. SBX was founded by Alexandra Hirschi, aka Supercar Blondie, and deals with luxury models and hypercars, the kind that Dubai-based wealthy customers would buy. SBX has recently sold the most expensive car ever sold online. It was a Lamborghini Veneno Roadster that someone paid $6 million for.

This 2021 Regera has all the credentials to sell well. The odometer only showed 1,462 kilometers (908 miles) from new at the time of the listing.

The car is painted in Nordic Light, which is a bright shade of blue, over a White interior, wrapped in quilted leather with contrasting light blue stitching. The Koenigsegg family crest and the brand's logo show up on each carbon sports bucket seat.

The cabin of the Regera spins around performance. Minimal media distractions, buttons and switches like in the good old automotive days introduce the driver to the world of raw driving experience.

Listed on the SBX website and still residing in Montreal, Canada, the car is being auctioned off, with the bidding set to end on July 3. However, with still a week to go, it looks like it won't be an easy sale.

The last participant in the online auction placed a bid four days ago, and that was far from the actual value of the Koenigsegg Regera equipped with the Ghost Package: $325,000. In fact, that last bid is the only one so far, even though it was viewed by over 10,000 people.

So, the Regera is still waiting for someone to fall in love with it. Hopefully, the next owner, whoever it is going to be, will drive it more than 900 miles in three years.

We found the same car listed on a website based in Switzerland. Over there, the price is available upon request. The model was also listed on the duPont Registry web page last winter. It was then for sale for $2,999,998.

Similar Regeras that have popped up on the used car market over the years sold for anywhere between $2.7 and $3.2 million. So that is probably the kind of money that the seller expects.
