The Skoda Superb Estate 4x4 will be available to the UK buyers, offering its fourth-generation Haldex system to the public.
The list of engines includes the entry-level 1.8 liter TSI 160 HP petrol unit, the 3.6 liter petrol V6 offering 260 HP and the 2.0 TDI common-rail 170 HP Diesel.
The aforementioned 4x4 system transfers torque to the wheels, which have the best traction at any given moment. It does this by analyzing signals from the ABS sensors. The fuel consumption compared to the front wheel drive version is not increased by the system’s action, as the rear wheels only receive power when this is necessary. However, the increased weight of the transmission will affect this figure.
Skoda emphasizes the fact that the Superb Estate 4x4 will be able to tackle the snow and icy conditions which have hit the UK this season, and that the system can also offer advantages in the summer - for caravan users. The company also prides with the fact that the Superb Estate has been named “Top Gear Luxury Car of the Year”
If you live in the UK and feel that this car suits your needs, you will be able to buy it starting from February 26 and it will set you back at least 22,420 pounds (the 1.8 TSI 160 HP version in SE trim).
The Superb Estate 4x4 joins the Superb hatch 4x4, the Octavia Estate 4x4, the Octavia Scout and the Yeti 4x4 to complete the Czech manufacturer’s four-wheel drive range.
