After catching several glimpses of it courtesy of our vigilant spy photographers, the Skoda Elroq has now been detailed, with the Czech automaker releasing a lot of information about it, joined by more images of a camouflaged prototype.
The upcoming model will sit below the Enyaq and above the upcoming Epiq as an EV successor to the Karoq and share its VW Group's MEB platform with the Ford Explorer EV, Cupra Tavascan, VW ID.3, ID.4, and other EVs from the automotive giant's portfolio. Skoda will offer it in the 50, 60, 85 and 85x specifications. The base model has a 52 kWh (net) battery pack, the mid-spec uses a 59 kWh battery, and the 85 and 85X carry the largest unit, which has a net capacity of 77 kWh.

Power-wise, future customers will get 170 ps (168 hp/125 kW) in the most affordable version of the family, which uses a single electric motor on the rear axle. The 2025 Skoda Elroq 60 brings a 204 ps (201 hp/150 kW) electric motor, and both have a 160 kph (100 mph) top speed. The Elroq 85 is also rear-wheel drive, although it enjoys 285 ps (281 hp/210 kW), and the Elroq 85x adds a second electric motor at the front axle and boasts 300 ps (296 hp/220 kW). Both tap out at 180 kph (112 mph) and are said to deliver more than 560 km (348 miles) of range.

DC fast-charging is on deck, yet only the 85 and 85x variants can sip electrons up to 175 kW. All four models can be recharged from 10 to 80 percent in less than 28 minutes, and a full charge at 11 kW takes between 5.5 and 8 hours, depending on the selected version. The Skoda Elroq benefits from manual and automatic battery pre-conditioning for DC charging, a feature that optimizes the charging speed in low temperatures.

The Czech automaker says its trunk capacity is 1,580 liters (55.8 cu-ft) with the rear seats folded down and 470 liters (16.6 cu-ft) with the rear seats upright. Additional storage spaces boost the capacity by 48 liters (1.7 cu-ft). Scanning the QR code in the trunk will reveal the equipment level and other functions available and present users with an interactive video on how to use various gizmos.

Skoda's upcoming Elroq will sport the same 5-inch digital cockpit as the larger Enyaq and a 13-inch central display, as well as an optional head-up display. It also uses sustainable materials throughout the interior, has remote parking, intelligent park assist, up to nine airbags, and numerous other safety features. The MySkoda app will allow users to access certain functions and control different aspects of the car.

In the latest teasers, which are actually official scoops, the 2025 Skoda Elroq is presented with green and black camouflage, displaying the manufacturer's name on the sides. The model has sharp headlights with a split design, a closed-off grille, LED taillights, a clean rear bumper, traditional door handles, a long front overhang, and a shorter rear one. The roofline is a bit angled towards the rear, yet taller backseat occupants shouldn't struggle for legroom.

It is worth noting that the Elroq is the first production Skoda to adopt the brand's new Modern Solid design language. Wheel sizes vary from 19 to 21 inches, and they're aerodynamically optimized for improved driving range.

Skoda's Elroq will probably premiere towards the end of 2024 or early next year, and we expect the car manufacturer to open the order books for it shortly after the grand unveiling. As a result, we expect future testers to start shedding camouflage, revealing more of that new design language that likely shares a few traits with other existing Skoda models.

The Elroq represents an important step into the electric future for Skoda as it marks the beginning of its new BEV campaign that will see the introduction of no fewer than six all-quiet models in the coming years. These are fed by the success of the Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe, which are larger than the upcoming Elroq, and this model should further strengthen the brand's presence in the EV game.

Mind you, before wrapping it up and calling a story, we have to remind you that demand for battery-electric vehicles has recently dropped, forcing some companies to change their strategy. Thus, it remains to be seen whether Skoda will remain committed to this plan and risk a huge chunk of money or if it will reconsider it and keep expanding its portfolio with internal combustion-powered cars instead.

So, would you want Skoda to bring the upcoming Elroq to the United States as a slightly smaller alternative to the Volkswagen ID.4? And if so, would you buy one? Your opinion matters to us, so tell us what you think about this model in the comments area below.
