Sir Rod Stewart loves fast cars, but he’s not much of a nostalgic guy. For the second time this year, another Lamborghini he bought years ago – and which he barely took to the road – is up for sale.
This time, it’s the light blue Gallardo Spyder he bought in 2007 and later resold to an unknown customer in 2009. The car remains in excellent condition and, despite changing two set of hands, is barely used. RM Sotheby’s hopes it will fetch £150,000 when it will auction it on September 5.
The musician bought the Spyder new through Lamborghini Edinburgh and its buyer will receive all documents attesting this. Included in the offer is a CD with photos of Stewart and the car outside his lavish home, and a letter he wrote to the second owner, who bought it in 2009.
It turns out Steward did very little driving in the car. Documentation shows the last service was undertaken by Lamborghini Viena in October 2017, when the car had 3,007 miles (4,839 km) on the odometer. Since then, it was driven just one more mile.
“Beautifully maintained and lovingly preserved from new, this Gallardo Spyder is an exceptionally rare and exciting proposition, not only thanks to its celebrity ownership, but also to the fact that it still wears its original paint and has never been involved in an accident,” RM Sotheby’s says in the listing.
The original paint would be in Celeste Phoebe, a type of blue Lamborghini used on many of its early cars. The interior is in a Blu Scylla and Avorio color scheme.
“With the vast majority of mileage accrued by Stewart himself, this would be a thrilling purchase for any fan of Rod Stewart or Lamborghini enthusiast. It would be difficult to find a Gallardo Spyder worldwide presented in such exceptional condition with the added bonus of spending time in Rod Stewart’s garage,” the listing further adds.
“Young hearts, be free tonight!”
