You know what? I think the Tesla Cybertruck is cool, but I’m not sure it’s “way over MSRP cool”, especially when you consider everything that’s seemingly wrong with it. People are starting to take notice of those awkward panel gaps and other reported build quality issues. Bits of trim may fall off. I mean, you just never know.
Tesla are probably going to get it right at some point though, optimizing production and improving build quality, but those panel gaps are still going to be there, so that’s something you might as well make your peace with.

Meanwhile, as a seller, you should at least entertain the thought that not everyone is as enthusiastic as you are about owning a Cybertruck, and expecting it to fetch over MSRP at auction could be a tall order.

Case in point, this Foundation Series 2024 Cybertruck in dual-motor AWD configuration. It has just 283 miles on the clock and an original sticker price of $101,985. So far, so good right? Well, not exactly. This EV truck failed to sell at auction recently, where the highest bid maxed out at $120,000, which was apparently still short of the reserve set by the seller.

That to me is just staggering. How could you not take the $20k over MSRP offer when it was on the table? What could the reserve have been? $130k? More? Keep in mind that this isn’t the Tri-motor Cyberbeast, and that we’ve seen identical Cybertruck specs to this one sell for roughly $120,000 before, and with fewer miles on the clock, mind you.

Of course, that was then, and this is now. The more time goes by, the less excited people are going to be about owning a mid-spec Cybertruck, especially with Tesla build quality getting destroyed all over social media.

Speaking of specs, this Cybertruck comes with a power-operated “frunk”, eight exterior cameras, an off-road light bar, automatic LED lights, 120- and 240-volt power outlets, plus a set of 20” Cyber alloy wheels with 285/65 Goodyear rubber.

You already know it’s got the variable-ratio steer-by-wire system, not to mention the adaptive air suspension. On paper, there are a lot of cool features.

Interior highlights include the heated and ventilated front seats, the Foundation Series specific white upholstery for the dashboard and door panels, a massive 18.5” touchscreen display, a 9.4” rear touchscreen, a 15-speaker sound system, heated rear seats, wireless charging pads, and a rectangular steering wheel that’s way better than that yoke thing you get in the Model S or the Model X.

As for what this can do in a straight line, the dual electric motors combine for 600 horsepower, which will get you to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, before maxing you out at 112 mph. This truck is more than quick enough.
