The organizers of the Sic Supermoto Day plan to add important changes to this commemorative event for 2015. This year, the Sic Supermoto Day reaches its fourth edition, but it will no longer take place at the Il Sagittario circuit in the Italian region Latina.
Sic Supermoto Day 2015 will arrive in Misano, at the very Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, a track that received its name after the tragic death of Super Sic in the Malaysian Grand Prix ar Sepang, on October 23, 2011.

A special new track will be inaugurated at Misano, the Arena World Circuit. Sources in the Italian media report that the new track will be developed with the addition of 1,000 meters (0.62 miles). At the same time, it will also receive official homologation from the FIM in a matter of days, thus becoming available for high-tier international races, too.

No more Supermoto racing, welcome Flat Track drifting

An even more important update for the Sic Supermoto Day 2015 is the fact that the usual Supermoto race will be replaced with a Flat Track one. This means switching from asphalt drifting to drifting around a flat dirt track, interestingly enough, one of the off-time sports MotoGP riders often get involved into.

Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez are only two of the most famous MotoGP riders who indulge in flat track racing on a regular basis. In fact, Rossi has a very cool dirt track at his Moto Ranch in native Tavullia, only miles away from the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. He invites other riders in various motorcycling disciplines for amical racing at the Moto Ranch, including MM93 and other GP rivals.

Colin Edwards is also enjoying dirt racing at his Boot Camp. Funny thing, many of the big American names in GP racing have also been keen flat trackers before taking the step to the world road racing scene, and kept on enjoying this in parallel with their GP careers.

Federico Capogna is the head of the Sic Supermoto Day 2015 and he says we might expect to see big names in the two-wheeled event. Even though a part of what will happen at Misano is still veiled by mystery, voices in the Italian media see possible that the event would host a grand finale race bringing together some of the biggest national and international names in motorcycling. So far we only know that the Sic Supermoto Day 2015 will take place in December, on a yet undisclosed date, so stay tuned for more.
