SHIELD Agents to Use Acura Vehicles in Thor Movie

There’s a new Marvel superhero movie coming and we expect to see a lot of commercials leading to the cinema release of ‘Thor’ on May 6th. According to Variety, Acura is doing a bit of product placement in the Hollywood creation by featuring its vehicle lineup in it.

The upscale Honda brand in America has been chosen as the brand of vehicle chosen by the super -spies at SHIELD. In Marvel cartoons, the agent usually arrive on the scene on futuristic flying machines and have a huge floating base of operations built by Tony Stark (spoiler alert), so Acura were more than happy to be associated with SHIELD’s high-tech, cutting edge reputation.

The company’s corporate identity already contains a much criticized shield shape, so this is a match made in heaven. Acura will get an amazing two minutes of air time in the movie, which is significant for a Hollywood blockbuster, but it has allowed the bad guys to destroy some of the vehicles. Expect to see unrealistic explosions and cars flying through the air.

We are sure that a big chunk of the automaker’s publicity budged will get swallowed up for those two minutes of screen time, but that’s not the whole story. Variety reports that Acura will push the movie in commercials, while also hosting Thor events at local dealerships that include giving away some tickets for advanced screenings.

After Thor’s debut in May, Captain America will be released this summer, following two Iron Man ones and 2008's The Incredible Hulk. Al those movies are a run-up to the release of The Avengers next year. There we will see all these heroes joined together thanks to SHIELD’s efforts in an effort to protect the earth from something to big to take on alone.
