Shelby American Inc. is a company specialized in creating over-steroidized versions of Ford-branded vehicles such as the iconic Mustang. Every car built by the custom performance carmaker is borderline unique, all the more reason we got enthusiastic when Shelby announced that it wants to sell 11 collectible prototypes and concepts.
So why does Shelby American Inc. wants to part ways with this list of very special cars? Well, it seems like this turn of events has more to do with a garage sale than an auction event due to the fact that Shelby just relocated its headquarters and the new building doesn't seem to have enough space to deposit these priceless creations.
Nevertheless, even the legendary Carroll Shelby once said that his favorite car was always "the next one." So what kind of prototypes and concepts are included in this garage sale? Starting off with the most exquisite offering of the lot, Shelby asks a cool $200,000 for a Cobra development vehicle bearing chassis #CSX7033. It was built as a 289FIA spec racer and now sports a 351 cubic inch Windsor V8 mated to a Paxton supercharger and a four-speed manual.
The other 10 offerings are various concepts and prototypes built between 2007 and 2013. Aside from no less than 8 different Mustangs in Super Snake, GT350 and GTS guise, Shelby American is selling a couple of pretty interesting and unusual vehicles. One of these is a 2013 Shelby Raptor Concept powered by a blown 6.2-liter V8 with 575 horsepower on tap. The fully optioned truck can be yours for a hefty $125,000.
However, if that's too much over your budget, maybe a Shelby Focus Concept from 2013 is the car for you. For a reasonable $50,000, you can own a seriously cool hot hatchback with a 260 horsepower 2.3-liter four-pot EcoBoost mill under its bonnet. Other notable features fitted to the Focus are 18-inch Michelin tires, a custom interior, carbon fiber engine cover, Wilwood brakes, Eibach suspension and a performance Shelby hood.
