Shelby American Travels to UK With Its New 830-HP Super Snake, Bites Hard on the Wallet

The S650 seventh generation 2024 Ford Mustang has been around for some time in America, but this year, the Old Continent also got a taste of its novel features and V8 plus Dark Horse goodies. More so, Ford is happily attending the 24 Hours of Le Mans racing weekend (June 15 and 16) with the European version of the Mustang GTD alongside the racing-spec Mustang GT3, which is set to compete during what is known as the world's greatest endurance race.

The Mustang GTD boasts 800 horsepower via its 5.2-liter supercharged V8, a cockpit full of carbon fiber, and the company even announced the Carbon Series complete with a new Performance pack – and this is the version they will use to attempt a sub-seven-minute hot lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. However, the $325k Ford Mustang GTD isn't the only supercharged option – if you're willing to go down the aftermarket route, companies like Hennessey or Shelby American have even more powerful options.

For example, Hennessey promises no less than 850 horsepower with its H850 build, and Shelby American is not too far behind it with its latest version of the Super Snake nameplate, which rocks 830 supercharged ponies. Speaking of Shelby and their all-new Super Snake based on the S650 Ford Mustang, the company joined forces with Clive Sutton to jump the big pond (aka the Atlantic Ocean) and deliver the comprehensively enhanced 2024 Mustangs to the United Kingdom and "the highest-performing Shelby Super Snake vehicles in history."

Curiously, they are available in both left- and right-hand drive configurations with upgrades for the powertrain, suspension, brakes, cooling, wheels, and body to make them some of the most "technically sophisticated and highly capable performance cars" currently available on the market. Naturally, these Super Snakes are collectibles and will cost an arm and a leg when they reach their UK destination – the US version starts at no less than $160k, which is, anyway, a lot more sensible than the $325k Mustang GTD.

However, by the time they arrive across the Atlantic Ocean, the Shelby American x Clive Sutton partnership results in a £220k price, which is almost $281k at the current exchange rate. Alas, at least it's "on-the-road and inclusive of all modifications, taxes, and import duties." Additionally, interested customers need to know there are only 250 build slots allocated to specialist retailer Clive Sutton, and deliveries will kick off early next year. As for the warranty, there's just a standard three-year, 30,000-mile setup, which is nothing fancy, not even at this price.  Along with the Super Snake, the only official Shelby American distributor in the UK also sells the Super Snake F-150 and the latest Shelby Cobra.
