The Tarraco is probably the only SEAT model that sidetracks the brand's sporty identity. However, there's a chance a few not-so-young Leon owners need something for the whole family soon. The kids are getting big and that bad bak cannot be ignored.
But they're not going to stop liking custom wheels and engine mods just because they own an SUV, and ABT wants their business. You may know them as the biggest VW tuners in Europe, and for the past couple of years, they've been into SUVs just as much as everyone else.
We're the first ones to admit that the Tarraco doesn't have the same curb appeal as an Audi Q7. So you're not going to see carbon fiber seats or any of that expensive stuff. Instead, ABT just has some engine mods carried over from its other projects.
More specifically, they offer a power pack which we believe to be plug-and-play and it takes the 2.0 TDI from 190 HP and 400 Nm to 220 HP and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque. We don't know how useful mods like these will be, since nobody races a 7-seat crossover, but maybe you can use that 10% more torque for some extra-safe overtaking.
For the record, the factory setup will get you from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds, and the ABT power pack might shave two or three tents. The only other mods are a set of 21-inch sports wheels which look like the turbine-style offered for the old Scirocco and CC. Of course, the German company has a variety of other alloy designs on offer, going as low as 19 inches.
We're waiting to see if the big SUV will spark tuner's creativity the same way a Leon does. But so far, not even the 300 horsepower Cupra Ateca has received body kits, so don't hold your breath.
