SEAT finally confirmed that it will showcase the Ibiza ST at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010, a model that will be based on the IBZ concept revealed for the first time at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September. Sales will begin soon after the public unveiling of the car, with prices and full specs to be released closer to that date.
The Spanish carmaker confirmed in September that the IBZ concept will make it to production in 2010 but hasn't mentioned how many features available on the concept will actually make it to the production version.
"It will be on the market in 2010, as the company continues its new product offensive which is making the Spanish brand’s range the youngest on the market. In the year of the Ibiza’s 25th anniversary, the newest addition to the range underlines the car’s segment-leading quality, design and workmanship," SEAT said in a release.
At the same time, SEAT will also introduce the new 1.2-liter TSI engine, already available on some models released by Volkswagen Group, with maximum output going to 105 horsepower.
The concept displayed at Frankfurt came with a new center grille, with honeycomb slats and aluminium surround, as well as rectangular air vents similar to those seen on the Ibiza Cupra. It was fitted with low profile 235/35 tires and five double-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels, with an embossed S on the center.
As for the interior, the IBZ Concept boasted newly-designed seats and integrated headrests upholstered with a combination of leather and suede in the same color as the dashboard.
