Spanish carmaker SEAT will also attend the 2011 Geneva Auto Show that will open its doors to the press next week and, although it has no new models to display there, the carmaker will show some variations of its existing vehicles. One of these would be the so-called Ibiza Cupra R210, a more powerful Ibiza that will be powered by a 1.4-liter TSI engine outputting a maximum of 210 horsepower.
Unfortunately, SEAT has remained tightlipped on its Geneva display, so there are no other details available regarding the models to be seen in Switzerland. Production is very likely to be limited to only a few hundreds vehicle, while sales will probably take place exclusively in SEAT's domestic market.
The Ibiza has been recently used as development platform for a van model that could attend the Geneva Auto Show as well. The Ibiza Van is available with two engine choices, a 1.2-liter three-cylinder unit with 70 horsepower or a 1.2-liter TDI CR with 75 hp. The diesel is especially frugal, burning only 3.8 liters of fuel every 100 kilometers (61 mpg US) on the combined cycle. The engine also comes with green credentials, as it only emits 99 grams of CO2 every kilometer.
The newly-launched van retails for €12,635 ($17,329) in petrol version that comes with a 70 hp 1.2. The diesel costs a bit more at €14,760 ($14,760).
autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
