Russian Anti Drunk Driving Measures

Alcohol and driving make a great mix, when the first goes into a ethanol capable engine, but it seems that many drivers never manage to reach the fuel filler cap when carrying a recipient that contains alcohol, spilling the precious liquid down their throats. The results can be seen every day, in all parts of the world and involve a wide range of unfortunate events, from twisted road side polls to lethal crashes.

Lawmakers worldwide have implemented various campaigns in an effort to solve the problem, but not many of them are successful. However, the latest such initiative, which comes from Russia, will certainly reach the public and manage to raise awareness (we know, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the vodka wont’ get behind the wheel).

The project, which is a modern marketing initiative, has been co-developed by the Russian consultancy agency Zavod and the Russian Union of Auto Insurers, as automotto reports.

So, we’ve settled that this is a move aimed at reducing the insurance’s companies’ losses, but let see what we are talking about exactly.

The transit route located 26 km of the Minks highway in Odintsovo has been gifted with a 12m high bottle shaped construction that has been built to discourage drunk driving. The 8 tons bottle-like installation is filled with dismantled car parts (and a motorbike topping) to raise awareness on the dangerous effects of drunk driving. All the ingredients of the financial-safety-iron cocktail come from vehicles that have been damaged in accidents.
