Rivian is expected to announce the launch of the 2025 R1S and R1T models this summer. Sources at Rivian unofficially confirmed that this will happen sooner than expected, on June 6. The EV startup plans to make the announcement during the Electric Summer Kick-Off event.
Update: Rivian has started posting the Electric Summer Kick-Off events on their Spaces webpage. Head to Rivian Spaces and register for the event at a Rivian Space near your location.

Rivian has been working on a mid-life refresh for its EV models for more than a year. The main goal was not overhauling the design or bringing new features but optimizing costs and manufacturing. Thus, the 2025 R1S and R1T models will not sport significant design changes, although this doesn't mean there aren't any. However, architectural changes will make Rivian EVs more refined while saving money for the EV startup.

Based on previous rumors, Rivian was expected to announce the new models this summer, with deliveries starting not long after that. The June 27 Investor Day was thought to be the perfect occasion, although hints indicated that production at Rivian's factory in Normal, Illinois, was already ramping up. New information confirmed by sources at Rivian suggests that the updated models will be announced on June 6 during the Electric Summer Kick-Off event at Rivian Spaces.

Rivian announced the event in its latest newsletter, instructing owners who wish to attend that they can register in the "Upcoming Events" section of their local Space's website. However, Rivian's website doesn't work as it should, as the "rivian.com/Spaces" link provided isn't the same as "rivian.com/spaces," resulting in a 404 error (page not found). If you enter the correct address, you'll find that none of the Rivian Spaces lists the Rivian Electric Summer Kick-Off event on their upcoming events list.

Apparently, Rivian withholds the sign-ups until they sort out some last-minute details, so it should be up soon. Alongside the refreshed R1S and R1T, Rivian is also expected to offer more information on the Premium Connectivity package during the event. However, people confirmed that the refreshed vehicles will not be displayed at Spaces locations. Instead, Rivian will offer a presentation and visuals to show the changes.

Even though the trucks will not be there for the launch presentations, they will get quickly to customers. Pictures taken in the outbound lot at Rivian's plant in Normal, Illinois, show hundreds of R1S vehicles waiting for delivery. Most of these vehicles appear to be the base version R1S, powered by the LFP battery pack. This might indicate that deliveries will start with the cheaper variants, possibly to simplify production and accelerate the ramp-up.

Surprisingly, there's no R1T in these pictures, which suggests that Rivian might delay the pickup truck's deliveries. After all, most people seem to be interested in the R1S, with very few R1Ts delivered in the past months. The refreshed models feature new headlights and no front tow hooks, at least for some trims. Under the skin, the 2025 R1S and R1T will have new driver assistance systems and sensors, a heat pump for increased efficiency, and faster charging tech.

Rivian will also launch a new tri-motor variant of its R1 models, which could be as powerful as the current Quad-Motor trims. The jury is still out on whether the EV startup will continue to offer quad-motor models or discontinue them. Fans hope Rivian will offer a beast with over 1,200 horsepower in its lineup despite the added development costs.
