British luxury car manufacturer Rolls-Royce is reportedly considering a range of carbon fiber-bodied limited edition models.
According to Edmunds, Rolls-Royce is looking to develop low-volume, limited edition vehicles with carbon fiber bodywork. The bespoke models will be based on the company’s current lineup and will retain their inner structure for safety reason.
Our source points out that while composite materials are expensive, they are much cheaper to tool than steel or aluminum body panels, adding that Rolls-Royce could benefit from the progress that parent company BMW has made developing its brand new i-Series.
Meanwhile, Rolls-Royce designers are producing sketches for a future SUV, but senior engineer Nils Griffel says nothing promising was created so far. Earlier this month, Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes said the company is seriously considering the luxury SUV segment.
