Rolls Royce has a rich history in aviation both civilian and military. Back in the day, they supplied engines for everything that was fast, even if it had wings. During world war two, the British were fighting off the Germans in svelte propeller-drive aircraft called Spitfire. But this majestic fighter has its roots firmly set in the hidroplane speed record era, where the Supermarine S6B was king.
Now Rolls Royce is celebrating this history with the Phantom Coupe Aviation Edition. This comes with a very interesting airplane-inspired interior and will be produced in very limited numbers - only 35.
The body of the Aviation Edition is finished off in Aviation Grey, while the bonnet, window surrounds and grille housing are all matte grey. Inside, its all mahogany, metallic finishes and a leather floor mat with metal reinforcements.
"Our founding forefather Charles Stewart Rolls was a pioneer who pushed the boundaries of motoring and aviation to the limit," said Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös. “With our exclusive Phantom Coupé Aviator Collection we celebrate this great British hero, presenting a car which hints at experiments in early flight married to the best engineering, modern design and exquisitely crafted materials."
