A convertible, or Drophead Coupe as they like to call it, version of the new Wraith is coming our way in 2015. The news comes not from any spyshots or speculative reports, but from company CEO Torsten Muller, who spoke to British magazine Autocar about the subject.
With sales of the Wraith coupe pretty much where Rolls Royce thought they would be, the company has approved the development of this car, which could be the fastest convertible with four seats out there, a true match for Bentley's GTC Speed.
Launched at this year's Geneva Motor Show, the Wraith coupe is powered by a 6.6-liter V12 engine that produces 624 bhp and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft). The Wraith gets from 0 to 100 in 4.6 seconds and has earned the nickname "driver's Rolls". It's based on the Ghost and has been designed to attract younger buyers.
“We are also seeing that early orders are bringing in customers who haven’t bought a Rolls-Royce before and who perhaps wouldn’t have considered one. We have already had customers who own Ferraris come to us and place orders. They are not replacing their Ferraris, but they now see an alternative option, where they can travel quickly and with the ultimate luxury," Muller told the British publication.
