Like Rivian's all-electric pickup truck but haven't found the right deal for you? Well, here's another opportunity to get behind the steering wheel of an R1T. The automaker recently allowed its American and Canadian employees to unlock new discounts for the remaining 2023 model-year units. But don't wait too long because the deal supposedly ends on June 1.
When writing, the 2024 Rivian R1T is available in several drivetrain combinations. The employee discounts, however, are available only for the 2023 R1T equipped with the Large 135-kWh battery or the Max 149-kWh high-voltage energy storage unit. It doesn't matter if the vehicle of your choice has two or four motors.

Buyers of the dual- or quad-motor 2023 Rivian R1T that have the Large pack can enjoy USD 6,000 or CAD 9,000 off. Those who want a bit more range can obtain a USD 7,250 or CAD 11,000 discount for choosing a Max pack.

The discounts apply to buyers who pay for the vehicle in full before taking delivery, finance, or lease. You'll want to pick the latter, though. That enables Rivian to apply the full EV tax credit as an instant rebate. The company transfers the federal perk to the customer, which means that's another $7,500 off the value of your R1T of choice.

Besides the employee referral discount (which you must obtain from someone who works for the company), Rivian also introduced specific lease promotions for the remaining model year 2023 units. So, depending on the unit you choose, you might enjoy an even better price.

Someone who already took advantage of the offer explained on Reddit how they managed to secure a monthly payment of just USD 466 over a 36-month period with zero dollars down and a mileage limit of 10,000 miles per year. The New Yorker chose a quad-motor large-pack R1T finished in LA Silver with a black interior and 21-inch wheels.

The 835-hp EV cost $79,000 without the destination charge of $1,800. But after factoring in the unit-specific promo of USD 2,700, the employee discount of USD 6,000, the EV tax credit of USD 7,500 (for which you have to qualify!), and the USD 1,000 deposit to confirm the order, their R1T ended up with a price tag of USD 63,600 with the destination charge included. Initially, that fee is presented separately to allow the EV to qualify for the federal incentive.

The powered tonneau cover was also included in the final price. If they choose to keep it at the end of the lease, they will pay USD 46,864. Rivian allows customers to buy their rides and take full ownership when the contract expires, which could save them a lot of hassle if they drive more miles than included in their agreement.

Rivian currently offers leases in 32 US states and most Canadian provinces.

The lease offer may appear a bit complicated, but it is probably the most cost-effective way to join the Rivian family.

If you want to score a similar deal on a 2023 Rivian R1T, make sure to select the three-year lease option because that has the best terms.

Finally, remember that you must take delivery by June 1. Otherwise, this special discount might not apply. Also, you should be patient while searching for model year 2023 R1Ts. The inventory is pretty limited in places like California.
