Motorcycles can crash when one expects the least, for no apparent reason, or at least that's what people could get by watching this video.
However, a bike never crashes just because: its either a rider error or a mechanical failure... or both. In this rider's case, one of the two most plausible explanations for this brutal stoppie-crash is air in the brake lines. Squeezing the lever for the first time turns out no braking, and after several repeated squeezes, the brake pads hit the rotors hard, causing a violent brake which in turn, causes the crash.
The second explanation, favored by most older riders, is that the rider panicked as he saw he was coming in way too hot for the turn, and simply braked for his life. Funny word play, as such a maneuver could have meant the very end of his days...
