Retro-Futuristic, Imagined Cadillac EV Sedan Doesn't Want to Be Called CT6. DeVille Then?

Cadillac, once seen as the doormat for German and Asian luxury brands all around the world, has since resurged more confident than ever on the back of great sales performance at home and especially in the world's largest car market – China.
Over there, it even dares to continue the legacy of big sedans (land yachts) with traditional models like the second-generation CT6, which debuted in late 2022 solely for the Chinese market. However, don't think that Cadillac has abandoned its home market from the passenger car standpoint – it still has the CT4 and CT5 series on sale, and the latter was recently refreshed for the 2025 model year, both the regular models and the V-Series plus Blackwings.

Back to the CT6, a lot of people are happy to see it survive to see another day, even if only in China. However, the home-based enthusiasts wouldn't necessarily want to see it travel across the high seas and big tides to land in America. Instead, some of them would more likely prefer to see the CT5 continue as an ICE-powered model and the CT6, if it returns, to offer an IQ all-electric alternative alongside the 2025 Optiq, 2024 Lyriq, 2026 Vistiq three-row family-oriented CUV, and the Escalade IQ plus Celestiq flagships.

For example, Vince Burlapp (aka vburlapp on social media or burlappcar.com) is a prolific virtual artist who loves to dream of all the latest models across the wide-ranging automotive realm – and he recently decided to give us his two cents on the CT6 matter. In his opinion, he is glad that the CT6 lived on, sad that it's only available in China, and on the fence about whether or not the second generation is actually an improvement over the model that is also sold in America.

Thus, he chooses to imagine something with a little more personality while considering the rumors from across the mill about Cadillac developing two new all-electric sedans based on the updated version of the Ultium technology and BEV3 platform. His vision also takes into account that big EV sedans are now in fashion – Tesla Model S, Lucid Air, Mercedes EQS, BMW i7, and more coming from Audi and others – so Cadillac could also join the EV land yacht game with something below the $340k Celestiq that could be sold in China but also in America.

Naturally, his vision is based on the latest rumors, which cite a fastback approach just like on the Celestiq – only that he wants something a lot more practical and also imbued with a "nice retro-futuristic" personality that would please a lot of potential buyers if priced right. That, for him, means below the German competition and as close as possible to the American peers, of course. So, what do you think? Could something like the illustration above find success in the US - either named CT6 or DeVille IQ?
