In today's car world, it's not all about crossovers, SUVs, and pickups with the usual electrification twist. Many companies still dedicate a lot of money to developing future low-slung models. Toyota is on this list, and if everything goes as planned, we might eventually see a new Celica in addition to others.
The Celica nameplate hasn't been around since right after the mid-2000s when Toyota discontinued this model. However, if a new report that recently came to our attention from the Land of the Rising Sun is correct, then a brand-new one could be right around the corner.

We really mean around the corner, as it should debut as early as next year during the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon. Chances are it might be a show car, and if that is the case, then Toyota will likely use input from its fanbase to decide whether a production model has any chance of success.

It would be sad to see a brand-new Toyota Celica concept that wouldn't morph into a production vehicle, especially if it stays true to the ICE (internal combustion engine) game, as it has been rumored to do. The upcoming machine will reportedly use an all-wheel drive system that could come from the GR Yaris and GR Corolla hot hatches.

The Japanese outlet went as far as claiming that the upcoming Celica is ready, though we'll take everything with a pinch of salt, as it sounds too good to be true, especially for mainstream sports car enthusiasts and fans of Toyota's GR Department that's said to gain yet another coupe, as the next Celica will allegedly be a two-door machine with a fixed-roof design.

No one really knows what a possible new Toyota Celica would look like, but one thing is certain: the automaker needs to differentiate it from the GR86 and the BMW Z4-related GR Supra. But while its design and most things about it, other than the rumor that it will feature a 2.0L engine and AWD, remain a secret, the upcoming Celica has ended up in the hands of the rendering crowd, especially since the aforementioned report made its way to the World Wide Web.

One of the latest renderings we came across imagines the so-called Celica GT-Four, a nod to the model's fourth generation made between 1985 and 1989, which can also be seen on the CGI vehicle's face. The rest of the car appears to be the latest generation GR Supra.

While we wouldn't normally support such a project, yet there's something about those pop-up headlights that makes us tingly, and with a little bit of work, it might be on to something. So, are you excited about the rumor that the Toyota Celica might return from the dead next year?
