The Bavarian automaker is riding the Cannes Film Festival's hype wave with help from Naomi Campbell, who presented the ultra-odd velvet and sequin-covered XM Mystique Allure to a select audience outside the Palais des Festivals et des Congres.
But the red carpet at the 77th Cannes Film Festival is filled to the brim with oddities, of course – including the 53-year-old supermodel posing in a semi-see-through dress like she's in her 20s all over again. Well, we are not judgmental (wink, wink). Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, which is why we are a lot more interested in what happens with an even more important reveal – the upcoming 2025 BMW M5 high-performance executive sedan and its M5 Touring sibling, the more practical station wagon version.

This is just another of BMW's 'worst kept secrets' because it feels like a lifetime has passed since the first whisper came up around the rumor mill that it will keep the V8 and add spicy plug-in hybrid power to make it a supercar killer. Since then, it has been incessantly spied on, leaked, rendered, and also teased. Naturally, there's a circle of life – as every new set of spies or official teaser attracts a reaction from the rumor mill or the imaginative realm of digital car content creators.

Last but not least, hopefully, BMW teased the M5 "family," a set of pure drifting machines, in an official video where the sedan and Touring are still clad in hefty camouflage. However, a blink-and-you-'ll-miss-it moment provided the world with a self-conscious leak, the image of the front of the M5 on a panel. Naturally, that was all that the parallel universes of vehicular CGI needed to get hyped all over again.

For example, Avarvarii Automotive Artworks (aka 'avarvarii' on social media) has taken a good, extended look at BMW's latest video teaser and decided they know the M5 by hard. It is so much so that they claim that their latest design project featuring a silver BMW M5 high-performance executive sedan is 95% accurate! Of course, take all these renderings with a healthy dose of salt because the company actually featured a design sketch in the teaser video, and things could still change even later in the game.

Anyway, the styling is not that hard to imagine. Although it will be twinned with the ultra-outrageous BMW XM (Label Red) for the PHEV powertrain – with extra oomph, of course – the next BMW M5 (G90) is a lot more traditional than 95% (see what we did there?) of the recent designs presented by the Bavarians. As such, the company probably hopes it will avoid the controversies surrounding models like the M2, M3, M4, 7 Series and i7, X7 LCI, and the XM, of course. What do you think?
