Big news from the tuning world. The Renault Megane RS 265 has been tickled and played with until it decided that it wants to make over 300 horsepower. It was only a small step for the car. After all, if all those Golf GTIs can do 300 hp, why can’t the Megane.
The tuning is the work of British company K-Tec, which fitted the car with an ECU remap and a performance air filer that combined added 40 PS to the engine at 6,000 rpm. This means the 265’s 2.0-liter turbo engine now makes 305 PS.
No performance figures are available yet, but we can expect to see a slight improvement over the standard sprint time and tip speed.
The power kit is priced from £414 in Britain ($650 or €525). This includes the necessary installation and the rolling road test that makes sure everything is working. We’d also recommend buying the £234 ($360 or €300) ‘Renflash’ ECU remapping tool, which allows you to store your factory map and switch between the two settings.
