In the middle of the automotive crisis, Europe's automakers found a brand new niche, one which never existed before, B-segment crossovers.
Renault's model is probably the most successful right now. The Captur is based on the Clio and is a little bit bigger and more practical. It's not available with any kind of 4x4 system. Although it comes with the same 1.2 TCe engine and EDC gearbox as the Clio GT, it has no hot version.
But Renault are masters at making hot hatches, and their RS brand is famous. So could we see a hot Captur RS? This rendering by French designer Antoine51 shows it might be worth a shot. It might prove cool and sporty, technically equipped with superior technology to rivals like Juke Nismo.
There are no rumors of the Captur RS, but maybe if we ask Renault nice enough, they'd make one.
Until they decide to do so, we've heard a rumor that the TCe 120 will be upgraded to a TCe 130 next year, while the gearbox will be made a little sharper.
