It's only May, and Lexus is already thinking about the upcoming summer. The premium Japanese automaker's American division recently expanded its partnership with the WSL – World Surf League.
Following the success of the 2024 WSL Championship Tour (CT), Lexus has expanded its partnership with the World Surf League by turning into the title partner of both the Lexus US Open of Surfing and the Lexus WSL Finals. Additionally, they will also return to the WSL CT in 2025 with the Lexus WSL Awards and the Lexus Pipe Pro.
Lexus hopes that its novel WSL experiences throughout North America will allow the surfing community and fans to interact in new ways with the brand and its vehicle lineup, including the all-new 2024 Lexus GX 550. But it won't be the only one, as the company already has some novelties for the 2025MY and beyond – in March, the 2025 NX added fresh colors and increased its convenience feature suite and connectivity options, for example.
Those who think that is not nearly enough to keep the momentum going will be glad to see that the rumor mill and imaginative realm of digital car content creators agree with them. For example, the good folks over at the AutoYa info channel on YouTube have imagined the CGI looks of the upcoming 2025 or 2026 Lexus RX facelift as the next in line for the hype train.
Born in 1997 as the JDM Toyota Harrier, the 1998 Lexus RX compact crossover SUV is widely credited for being the first luxury CUV, and it quickly jumped to the mid-size class beginning with the second iteration. Five generations have passed in quick succession – 1998, 2003, 2008, 2015, and 2022. As such, it is no wonder that the parallel universes of vehicular CGI believe that Lexus will, again, be in a hurry to launch an updated version for the 2025 or 2026 model years.
The host and the resident pixel master think that Lexus is not going to tamper with the successful formula – a facelift for the Lexus RX would only bring subtle modifications on the outside, like a reworked radiator grille and maybe redesigned headlights and taillights while inside the designers might only think about adding fresh trim elements. No worries, the channel is also spicing up the video feature embedded below with their traditional multi-color take on the CGIs, both inside and out. Oh, and there's also talk about the potential addition of a new flagship powertrain option – the RX 550h+ could borrow the TX setup and bring back the V6 engine, a 3.5-liter packing a combined electrified system output of 404 horsepower along with the 18.1-kWh lithium-ion battery pack from the RX 450h+. What do you think?
