Everyone and their mother (with a passion for Bavaria) are eagerly awaiting the launch of the all-new 2025 BMW M5 and M5 Touring, but M GmbH and its parent company have decided to continue the compact sports business onslaught.
As such, after seeing the beautiful and way less controversial BMW Concept Skytop design study, as well as the BMW M4 CS, now it's time for another refresh of the G20/21 BMW 3 Series lineup, complete with the 2025 M3 range. In America, the premium Bavarian automaker actually has an onslaught of novelties.

More precisely, they recently announced not just the second LCI (Life Cycle Impulse, or facelift in BMW-speak) for the BMW 3 Series and M3 models but also have prepared a host of updates for many models, including the 2025 BMW X1 and X2, which get the Parking Assistant Professional, or the BMW XM, which gains new paint jobs, fresh alloy wheels, and a new leather upholstery, among others.

Back to the refreshed 2025 BMW 3 Series, its main novelty is the addition of 48V mild hybrid technology to the 330i and M340i models, while the M3 range has plenty of novelties, as well. For example, there are redesigned headlights and fresh forged alloy wheel options, new cockpit trim options, new equipment, and the introduction of BMW Operating System 8.5.

The US-spec BMW M3 sedan will be produced at BMW Group Plant Munich from July 2024, and prices (plus $1,175 destination and handling) start from $76k (M3), $80,200 for M3 Competition, and $85,300 for the 2025 BMW M3 Competition with M xDrive. Interestingly, the Bavarians don't raise the prices for the first two options and only hike the M3 Competition xDrive by $1k – but it'll totally be worth it.

This is because the company has unleashed some of the hidden power of the S58 inline-six twin-turbo mill, and now there are three power tiers – 473 hp with a six-speed manual for the regular M3, 503 hp with the 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic for the RWD Competition model, and an extra 20 ponies for the xDrive version with all-wheel drive. As such, with 523 hp at 6,250 rpm and 479 lb-ft between 2,750 and now a higher 5,730 rpm, the flagship M3 can sprint from zero to 60 mph (96 kph) in 3.4 seconds.

All versions are limited to 155 mph (250 kph), but when the optional M Driver's Package is installed, the top speed goes up to 180 mph or 290 kph. By the way, even though it's going to be hard to make out, the distinguishing feats between the 2024 and 2025MY include forged M alloy wheels (Style 825M) in bright silver, single-module LED headlights, new dual arrow-shaped vertical LED units as DRLs and turn signals, while inside there's a redesigned three-spoke M leather or Alcantara steering wheel plus additional trims.
