Red Bull Racing is gearing up for the 2024 British Grand Prix at Silverstone by altering the livery on its championship-leading RB20 F1 race car, with an emphasis on celebrating some of the team’s already historic designs from its 20 years of racing around the globe.
This bespoke livery is merely one of a trio of new looks for the RB20 in 2024, the other two being prepped for Singapore and the United States later in the year. As far as this British Grand Prix look is concerned, it was designed as part of the team’s Forever Rebl campaign.

As you can see, it’s not a complete overhaul, but more of a splashy red accent that takes us back to the team’s 2015 one-off pre-season testing livery, the Camo Bull. This design, painted in Stallion Red and imagined by one Chalaj Suvanish from Thailand, makes the RB20 look even faster when standing still.

“Following the success of our customized fan liveries last year, we are proud to be running fan designed liveries once again on our cars for 2024. REBL CUSTMS has handed our most loyal supporters, a very special canvas in the RB20 and The Paddock has brought their vision to life,” stated Red Bull CEO and Team Principal, Christian Horner.

“Our fans sit at the heart of all we do, and I am very happy they get to play such an important part in our journey. I watched all the entries roll in and it is incredible to see the ingenuity and creativity of The Paddock members come to life in such an expressive manner.”

Meanwhile, the person who designed the bespoke livery added that they used ‘red’ to represent the spirit and strength depicted in the team’s logo, while taking inspiration from how flow-vis paint is used in aerodynamic testing.

It’s not a uniform look though, as the two sides of the RB20 aren’t identical in how the splashes of red were displaced. But don’t worry, that was the whole idea.

Can the RB20 win at Silverstone?

What a silly question (glad I asked it). This is still seemingly the best car on the grid, although it’s not as straightforward as in past years, because the RB20, as good as it is, doesn’t look particularly fast in the hands of Sergio Perez. In fact, if it was Perez and anyone else other than Verstappen behind the wheel, we might be saying that McLaren has the fastest car on the grid, or maybe Ferrari.

My gut feeling is that there isn’t much between the McLaren MCL38 and the Red Bull RB20. It’s Verstappen who’s simply better than everyone else – kind of like how Valentino Rossi used to dominate MotoGP despite not always having the best bike on the grid.

Currently, Red Bull leads the 2024 Constructors Standings with 355 points, followed by Ferrari with 291 and McLaren with 268. It’s also interesting how for the past two Grand Prix, Mercedes have looked faster than Ferrari.
