This car built in 1940 disappeared without a trace. It might have been destroyed or some collector might be holding onto it for good measure. But since it’s a one-off, how is it possible that we’re still looking at it?
That’s because in 2010 BMW Classic rebuilt this very interesting 328 Kamm Coupe to the original specifications so that people can understand the aerodynamics from that time.
As the story goes, BMW hid five cars in a rural area to stop them from being destroyed in the war. However, after the war they were found by the allies, and scattered across the world. Only this one remained in Germany with BMW Director of Racing Ernst Loof, who them sold it due to financial reasons.
But its new owner found it too much to handle and crashed it, after which it was scrapped in the early 50s.
Finally, BMW Classic rebuilt the car for the 70th anniversary of its Mille Miglia victory and the Kamm Coupe was reborn.
